village of Cullompton, just 1 mile away from this haven, provides
excellent places to eat and drink with local country pubs and a
variety of activities such as tennis, squash, badminton and golf.

The 16th and 17th century wool trade provided the wealth of Cullompton
evidence of which may be seen in the the fine parish church of St Andrew's.
The Civil War saw the town change hands several times. Charles I
reviewed his troops here in 1644, while his wife Henrietta Mans passed
through on her way to Falmouth, from where she embarked to France.
