5th March 2012
St.Piran’s Day Events held throughout the county to commemorate St.Piran, the
patron saint of tin mining. The modern observance of St Piran's day as a
national symbol of the people of Cornwall started in the late 19th and early
20th century when Celtic revivalists sought to provide the people of Cornwall
with a national day not unlike those observed in other nations. Since the 1950s,
the celebration has become increasingly observed.

Penzance Literary Festival The Penzance Literary Festival is a celebration of
words! This year's theme is 'Journeys'. We take ‘journeys’ to include journeys
through life, exploration of the works of authors, dramatists, story-tellers,
poets and songwriters, and discovery of how other people feel about and make
sense of what they read and hear and see.
